Contact Lenses
For millions, contact lenses provide a safe and effective alternative to eyeglasses. Just as shoes are not “one size fits all”, contact lenses must be fit individually to match the shape and size of your eyes. At Freehold Ophthalmology, we fit patients with contact lenses for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, presbyopia, and keratoconus.
Contacts allow for a wide field of unobstructed vision and increased comfort during sports and other recreations, may be used to enhance your appearance cosmetically, and are even frequently used for the treatment of certain eye conditions. Today, there are more convenient and healthy contact lens options than ever to satisfy a wider range of patients. In the United States, contact lenses are a prescription item, just like pharmaceuticals. By law, and for your safety, contact lenses must be properly fitted by an eye doctor. Discuss with your doctor which lens options are right for you.
Once you are successfully fitted for contact lenses, keep in mind that your eyes will need to be examined once annually so that your eye doctor can monitor the health of your eyes. Some patients may need contact lens progress evaluations prior to the annual visit.
