Eric A, Gershenbaum, M.D.
Dr. Gershenbaum received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, where he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. At the completion of medical school at Rutgers University, he was presented with the Academic Achievement Award, an honor reserved for the top two students in each graduating class.
He continued to enhance his medical knowledge by conducting research in the Ocular Oncology Department at the distinguished Wills Eye Hospital. Dr. Gershenbaum completed his residency training at the world renowned Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He then returned to his hometown in Monmouth County, New Jersey and opened a multi-specialty ophthalmology practice. He obtained his national accreditation and is a board certified ophthalmologist. Of all of the candidates in the United States who took the exam for the Board of Ophthalmology that year, Dr. Gershenbaum’s score was within the top ten.
Dr. Gershenbaum has eleven years of clinical experience, and is trained in the most advanced cataract and refractive surgical techniques. He has performed thousands of surgeries using cutting edge technology. Dr. Gershenbaum customizes each surgery according to a patient’s individual needs. LASIK is performed with a bladeless, wavefront guided technique to achieve an optimal visual outcome. Dr. Gershenbaum offers patchless, dropless cataract surgery, and he is experienced with femtosecond laser assisted surgery as well. He is very selective when choosing candidates for multi-focal, accommodating and astigmatism correcting advanced technology intraocular lenses. Most importantly, Dr. Gershenbaum believes in providing the best patient care possible.
He is a lecturer and clinical instructor, a published author, and a recipient of the Consumer’s Research Council of America “Top Ophthalmologist” award.
While Dr. Gershenbaum is not in the office he participates in many outdoor activities. He enjoys beach volleyball, skiing and traveling the world.
